What it is

Cartizze is a hill, not a town. Its vineyards cover 107 hectares in three hamlets of Valdobbiadene: San Pietro di Barbozza, Santo Stefano and Saccol. Wine from here can be labelled Valdobbiadene Superiore di Cartizze DOCG, the top level of the Conegliano Valdobbiadene denomination (Consorzio).

What to do

  • Walk the Anello del Prosecco: a loop of about 10 km on foot or by mountain bike, which the Consorzio calls the “Golden Pentagon of Cartizze”. It passes the viewpoint by the church of Sant’Alberto and the VignArte wood-sculpture installation among the vines. Best from March to October.
  • Taste on the hill: several wineries on and around Cartizze take booked visits. Options on GetYourGuide are below.
  • Osteria Senz’Oste (Strada delle Treziese 4): a self-service “inn without a host” where you help yourself to cheese, salumi and wine and pay at an automatic till (official site). We couldn’t confirm current opening hours.
  • Santo Stefano’s spring wine show: the first stop of the Primavera del Prosecco, held 13–29 March in 2026.

How to get there

Cartizze is about 3 km east of Valdobbiadene’s centre. Come by car, on a tour, or on foot from Valdobbiadene along the loop. From Venice, it’s a little over an hour by car.

Time needed

Half a day: two to three hours for the walk and a tasting afterwards. Drivers, remember the rule: whoever drives doesn’t taste.

Can you walk around Cartizze?

Yes. The Consorzio's 'Golden Pentagon of Cartizze' route follows the Anello del Prosecco, a loop of about 10 km for walkers and mountain bikes. It passes the viewpoint by the church of Sant'Alberto and the VignArte wood sculptures. The Consorzio recommends March to October.

What is the Osteria Senz'Oste?

An 'inn without a host' on the hill at Strada delle Treziese 4, Valdobbiadene. You serve yourself local cheese, salumi and wine, then pay at an automatic till (official site). It appears to be operating, but it publishes no opening hours, so treat it as a bonus rather than your lunch plan.
